Gqibelo Dandala, Executive Director of One Africa, writes:
A core precept to our DNA at One To One is collaboration and co-creation. Localised understanding of the problems we seek to address, co-creation and implementation of the solution with local communities and stakeholders.
However we can never plan for serendipitous crossing of paths with other partners on a different mission, sharing our commitment to the same communities we serve.
Traversing along our bumpy, gravel way, we met and worked with an NGO called Ubuntu Pathways, committed to providing access to clean water in those very difficult last mile communities. Together we identified 11 sites across our catchment areas (currently consisting of over 36 villages), where they installed boreholes and pumps for those communities.
This incredible partnership would directly impact our vision of improving life and health outcomes of our clients through access to clean water. It was Ubuntu Pathways that then introduced us to Breadline Africa, and their mission being to bring clean toilets to children in primary schools and ECD centres in the most rural of areas. This is but one example of the impact of the collaboration precept – working with others without straying from our vision to increase the impact of our work.
