A special end to our 2020 livestream series. First, we’ll hear from Anna Goodman, a consultant in infectious diseases at Guys and St Thomas’s and vaccine researcher. Anna will talk to Daniel Finkelstein and answer your questions on the coming vaccines.
Then Daniel will talk to economist Noreena Hertz, a bestselling author, broadcaster and keynote speaker, who the Observer has called 'one of the world’s leading thinkers' and Vogue describes as 'one of the world’s most inspiring women'.
Noreena’s books have been published in 23 countries, and her latest, The Lonely Century, looks at how, even before the current pandemic, loneliness was well on its way to becoming the defining condition of the 21st century. As she says, “40 years of seeing ourselves as competitors not collaborators, takers not givers, hustlers not helpers. This was always going to take a societal toll.”
Noreena will help us to understand why this is the lonely century, how we got here and how we can come together in a world that's pulling apart.
